Job Description

The starting pay range for this position begins at $17.09 - $23.21 and is based on qualifications and relevant experience above the minimum requirements. This is a full-time position working 32+ hours per week.

Housekeeping Staff II will assist with maintaining the overall, immaculate appearance of all historic structures and surrounding guest facilities. Responsibilities include vacuuming, minor maintenance, general cleaning of guest areas, items in collections, and exhibition spaces. Additional duties may be assigned by the Manager or Supervisor, and support for the department and company is expected.

Schedule

6am to 2:30pm daily, with occasional weekends.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; relevant training or certifications preferred.
• At least one year of experience in janitorial, custodial, or commercial cleaning, preferably in historic settings.
• Knowledge of modern cleaning methods and equipment; familiarity with restoration, conservation, and preservation practices is a plus.
• Experience with cleaning solutions and chemicals; ability to read MSDS sheets.
• Commitment to quality and service excellence.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment, follow instructions, and work well with others.
• Calmness in emergencies; problem-solving skills; self-motivated.
• Team player with proactive troubleshooting skills.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record; must be 18 or older.

Essential Duties

• Provide excellent guest service, including responding to inquiries and emergencies.
• Maintain furnishings and protect historic items per Museum guidelines.
• Clean designated areas, including floors, windows, chandeliers, and other fixtures.
• Maintain cleanliness of private and public areas, restrooms, and occasionally residents’ homes.
• Train Level I staff to standards.
• Assist with setup for events, filming, and special cleaning projects.
• Support Engineering and Maintenance departments as needed.
• Clean high or difficult-to-reach areas, including scaffolding work.
• Help maintain supplies and promote safety protocols.

Physical Requirements

• Manual dexterity and physical strength to perform tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds regularly and 75 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs/ladders, and work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.
• Good eyesight and hearing for inspections and evaluations.
