Job summary

Gibson Dunn & Crutcher is seeking a Finance & Accounting Analyst to support the Central Billing function from our New York office. The role entails researching and settling WIP and on-account inventories for partners, coordinating with Billing and Finance teams, and ensuring accurate account balances in a fast-paced environment.

Based in Los Angeles, Orange County, New York, or Washington D.C., you will assist with escalations, balance reconciliations, and timely reporting while supporting firm

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance required.
• Minimum of two years prior experience in legal billing, pricing, or finance.
• Strong Excel skills and ability to leverage technology in work processes.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; excellent organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Researching and settling WIP and on-account inventories for partners as requested by Legal Finance Operations Manager.
• Regularly review partner inventory aging reports to identify actions, escalation, or resolution.
• Assist with obtaining information on WIP, A/R, on-account, and trust balances; recommend actions such as write-offs or transfers.
• Coordinate with Billing Team to apply on-account balances towards WIP and outstanding balances.
• Support escalation process for unresolved inventory; prepare documentation for write-off approvals.
• Assist with inventory reconciliation related to partner departures, lateral transitions, or matter transfers.
• Monitor escalated inventory status and ensure timely follow-up per firm policy.
• Collaborate with Finance, Collections, New Matters, and Pricing teams for accurate inventory management.
