Job Details: Job Location: Pawhuska - PAWHUSKA, OK, Position Type: Full Time, Salary Range: Undisclosed, The Billing Technician’s primary purpose is the overall responsibility for a full range of technical services in coding, abstracting, and billing functions. This responsibility includes the submission of properly executed claims on a timely basis to third-party payers and responsible parties and rebilling or corrected billing of accounts previously submitted.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- At least 2 years of experience in medical billing.
- Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10, clinical disease processes; pharmacology; laboratory radiology and other diagnostic tests; diagnostic and procedural terminology to identify specific clinical needs.
General Qualifications
- Associate's degree in health information management, Business Administration, Accounting, or another related field preferred
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC), preferred – must receive within 12 months of hire date
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB), preferred – must receive within 12 months of hire date
- Certified Dental Coder (CDC), preferred – must receive within 12 months of hire date
- Knowledge of established procedures, required forms, and submission processes associated with the various third-party payers
- Ability to keep current on changes in policies/regulations of eligibility and compliance rules
- Basic Life Support certified or within 90 days of hire
- Ability to analyze complex medical and regulatory information to arrive at the most logical and advantageous method of billing
- Knowledge of billing information systems including EPIC and accounts receivable management programs
- Requires extreme accuracy and timeliness in all phases of work
- Requires excellent communication, problem-solving and teamwork skills
- Knowledge of and ability to adhere to the HIPPA and Privacy Act
- Requires ability to use Microsoft Office Suite programs
- Must be willing and able to learn new skills including traveling to conferences/training
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check
- Must be able to pass drug/alcohol testing
- Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record – may be required to drive GSA or Nation vehicles
