Job summary

Jewish Family and Children's Services is seeking a Billing Systems Specialist to support third-party billing for clinical programs. You will post payments in SmartCare, review billing data, generate invoices, and ensure timely collection of receivables.

Under the supervision of the Billing Systems Manager, you will collaborate with finance and clinical staff to reconcile accounts and maintain accurate records. This full-time role offers benefits and a competitive compensation package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or a related field preferred
• Minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in accounts receivable, accounting, bookkeeping, or related work required
• Medical billing experience (Medicare and insurance) in an institutional setting strongly preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
• Experience with EHR system preferred

Responsibilities

• In conjunction with other billing staff, collects, reviews, and enters time and billing data for client and third-party billing
• Enters 3rd party billing information, including Medicare, indemnity insurance and/or other third-party payer information into the SmartCare system
• Generates and distributes claims to Medicare and third-party payers; produces reports and journal entries
• Maintains knowledge of basic client/billing SmartCare system functioning; provides back-up for SmartCare operations
• Reviews insurance and Medicare monthly billing for completeness and accuracy; assists in enrolling clients for Medicare billing
• Posts payments for SmartCare into its accounting system; reviews credit card transactions and resolves misapplied payments
• Performs follow-up for delinquent accounts and disputed claims; coordinates with branches, clinicians and Finance to resolve issues
• Reconciles monthly Aging reports; registers clients for San Francisco and Peninsula regions in SmartCare; supports others during workload peaks
