Job summary

Pyramid Healthcare is seeking a Billing Specialist to accurately prepare, review, and submit patient billing claims while ensuring compliance and timely reimbursement. The role collaborates with clinical and administrative staff and insurance representatives to resolve billing issues and denials.

You will maintain billing documentation, prioritize deadlines, provide excellent customer service to patients and staff, and stay current with payer requirements and privacy standards.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of two years' medical billing experience.
Post-secondary education in healthcare administration, billing, finance, or related field preferred.

Summary

The Billing Specialist is responsible for accurately preparing, reviewing, and submitting patient billing claims while ensuring completeness, compliance, and timely reimbursement. This position works closely with clinical and administrative staff and insurance representatives to resolve billing issues, correct claim denials, and support accurate financial processing across the organization.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness and obtain missing information as needed.
Prepare, review, and submit claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing.
Identify, correct, and resubmit claims impacted by electronic payer edits or denials.
Identify and bill appropriate secondary and tertiary insurance carriers.
Assist with follow-up on outstanding claims to support timely payment and reimbursement.
Communicate with insurance companies, internal departments, and clinical staff regarding billing inquiries.
Maintain accurate billing documentation in accordance with company, payer, and regulatory standards.
Prioritize work to meet established deadlines and productivity expectations.
Deliver excellent customer service when interacting with patients, staff, and insurance representatives.
Identify billing issues and obtain or communicate information necessary to support claim resolution.
Maintain accuracy and attention to detail when entering, reviewing, and processing billing information.
Must exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality with regard to all company information.
Completion of all required trainings as designated by the company and accreditation/licensing entities.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Licensure, Education, & Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in medical billing required.
Post-secondary education in healthcare administration, billing, finance, or related field preferred.
Experience working with insurance companies and billing software preferred.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee is regularly required to use hands to type, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally be required to stand, walk, bend, or lift up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The work environment is typically indoors and moderately quiet. This position may require extended periods of computer use and will be scheduled based on operational needs. The employee may occasionally interact with patients or insurance representatives regarding billing questions. Regular use of computers, billing software, electronic claim systems, communication platforms, and other office technology is required. The position requires the handling of confidential patient, insurance, billing, and financial information.

The starting compensation for this role will be $16/hour; final compensation will be determined based on skill, experience, and qualifications.
