Job summary

NRG Energy is seeking a Billing Specialist to manage daily invoicing for a fast-paced retail energy business. You will ensure complete, timely, and accurate invoices and work with internal teams to resolve billing issues and ensure revenue recognition.

Open office environment or fully remote work options are available. The role supports customer billing and requires strong analytical and communication skills, with 0–2 years of related experience and a finance/business background.

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business or 1–2 years of commensurate expereience in the field or a related area.

Responsibilities

• The Billing Specialist position is responsible for the day-to-day activities of a fast-paced and growing retail energy business providing complete, timely and accurate invoices to customers.
• The Specialist has a direct impact on customer experience and actively works to resolve billing related issues, audits invoice details and interacts with various internal groups to ensure customer billing satisfaction and accurate revenue recognition.
• Review and resolve daily exceptions identified through a variety of means including but not limited to reports, internal communications, and customer inquiries.
• Remediate customer issues in an accurate and timely manner.
• Successfully execute and/or adhere to Key Controls in accordance with risk compliance documentation.
• Proactively identify enhancements and efficiencies to improve timeliness, accuracy, and completeness in customer billing.
• Participate in projects and other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1-2 years of energy industry experience, preferred.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Analytical, mathematical and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to communicate findings, make recommendations, facilitate corrections.
• Ability to effectively multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

• Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about.
