Job summary

Coquille Valley Hospital in Coos Bay, OR is seeking a Full-Time Medical Billing Clerk to manage multiple phases of the billing process and ensure cash flow by following up on balances with insurers and patients.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year in a medical setting, strong data entry skills (including 10-key by touch), and knowledge of insurance processes and hospital financial systems.

This role requires excellent communication, timely follow-up, and adherence to office procedures.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in a medical setting, data entry of hospital/clinical financial system preferred.
• Knowledge of insurance processes, collection procedures and regulations preferred.
• Must be proficient in 10-key by touch and keyboarding.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and submits claims to various insurance companies either electronically or by paper.
• Responsible for daily account follow up.
• Answers questions from patients, clerical staff and insurance companies.
• Research and resolve credit balances, missing payments, and unposted cash as appropriate.
• Responds and maintains correspondence.
• Responds to customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
• Communicates appropriately with insurance companies, patients, co-workers and supervisors.
• Resolve insurance claim rejections/denials and remedy expediently.
• Meets minimum productive standards and assists with departmental coverage as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
