Position Description: The Billing Specialist is responsible for timely and accurate billing of services by following all government and non-government regulatory requirements. This position is accountable for complying with all policies and procedures under AU Health and any external to the organization. The Billing Specialist should remain in full compliance with all departmental, instructional, and regulatory policies and procedures at all times.
Position Requirements: High School Diploma or GED and 1 year or more of experience in patient accounting or healthcare environment. Ability to communicate in a professional manner with both internal and external customers. Demonstrate in-depth knowledge and experience in the following technology solutions: patient accounting, scanning, patient systems, data quality monitoring and internet-based insurance websites.
Preferred Requirements: 1 year or more of experience in hospital and physician billing. Microsoft Office Products such as: Outlook, Excel, and Word. Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid Regulations and other insurance guidelines. Medical terminology, knowledge of insurance and reimbursement procedures.
