Job summary

EP!C is a Peoria-based nonprofit serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities with diverse programs across Illinois. The Billing Coordinator will lead EP!C’s billing operations, generate claims, post invoices, and support collections, working closely with Accounting and Behavioral Health teams.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, ethical, and well-versed in CPT/ICD-10, payer requirements, and EHR systems.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in healthcare billing, invoicing, and collections, preferably in Illinois.
• Experience generating, submitting, and managing healthcare claims and payments through an EHR system.
• Experience obtaining prior authorizations/pre-authorizations for healthcare services.
• Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 codes and medical billing terminology.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel with pivot tables and data manipulation.

Responsibilities

• Generate and submit claims and post invoices on a weekly to monthly basis.
• Receive, code, and post payments, including EFTs, paper checks, and other payment types.
• Maintain knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, medical billing terminology, payer requirements, and applicable Illinois regulations.
• Assist with credentialing and contracting EP!C with new insurance providers and other payers.
• Obtain prior authorizations for applicable services.
• Respond to and resolve patient billing questions, inquiries, and complaints professionally and promptly.
• Collaborate with Revenue Cycle Manager and other team members to support accurate billing notes.
• Follow HIPAA, confidentiality, compliance, and organizational requirements.
• Fulfill mandated reporter responsibilities in accordance with laws.
• Support EP!C’s mission and commitment to quality services.
