Job summary

The National Youth Advocate Program seeks a Youth Worker for La Jornada to support youth and families by providing advocacy and guidance toward targeted goals. You will supervise youth in care, build trusting relationships, and help create a warm, safe program atmosphere while reporting issues and completing required trainings.

Must be bilingual (English/Spanish), 21+, with a valid license and reliable transport.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of employment in the child welfare field with youth.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Patience, empathy, and ability to provide emotional support to minors.
• Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
• Bilingual English/Spanish fluency.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Automobile insurance and good driving record.
• Proficient use of computers and common software.
• Age 21+ with basic driving ability.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision of youth in care and maintain line-of-sight.
• Build trusting relationships and support youth toward goals.
• Provide leadership and a warm, safe atmosphere for youth.
• Complete required trainings and timely documentation.
• Coordinate with the Out of School Coordinator as needed.
• Travel as program demands and assist with program setup.
