Job summary

Community Health Alliance is seeking a WIC Eligibility Worker I to determine eligibility for the WIC program, conduct nutritional risk assessments, and deliver nutrition education to diverse clients in Reno, NV. The role emphasizes customer service, confidentiality, teamwork, and cultural competency.

Responsibilities include coordinating referrals, working across multiple sites, and meeting certification timelines for required licenses.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; some college coursework in health or social services preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish fluency required.
• Minimum of one year experience in public health, medical, or social service settings preferred.
• Within 1 year: Office Laboratory Assistant (OLA) license and Certified Lactation Educator (CLE) course.
• Within 2 years: CPA certification through Nevada State WIC.

Responsibilities

• Determine client eligibility for the WIC program and perform nutritional risk assessments.
• Deliver nutrition education and coordinate resource referrals.
• Adhere to state and federal program requirements with strong customer service and cultural competency.
• Travel to alternative WIC sites and work flexible hours as needed.
