Job summary

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Provo, Utah seeks an entry-level Interpreter/Translator to support missionaries at the Missionary Training Center. The role focuses on interpretation for non-English speaking missionaries and may include translation work for projects and curriculum.

Responsibilities include interpreting multiple meetings, translating as assigned, and participating in team trainings, with opportunities to contribute to a collaborative, mission-focused environment

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience speaking a second language.
• Native or near native command of English and a second language, including grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and social context.
• Well-developed interpretation skills.
• High level of understanding of gospel terminology and usage, including “Preach My Gospel”
• Physical requirements may include sitting long periods and using monitors/equipment.

Responsibilities

• Interprets for up to 25+ different meetings that missionaries experience throughout the duration of their stay at the MTC.
• Translates for assigned projects as determined by manager.
• Participates in team training meetings.
• Supports an environment of increased harmony, trust, and good will within the department and the MTC.
• Other additional responsibilities as assigned by the Interpretation Coordinator.
• May include other temporary assigned duties at the MTC (e.g. assisting with Mission Leadership Seminar)
