- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill requirements of the district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required
- Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles
- Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustee policies, and administrative regulations
- Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior
- Establish a system of students evaluation within the guidelines prescribed in state law or adopted by the school district
- Continuously evaluate and record students’ progress and report to parents as needed and required
- Teach within the course of study for the subject area at the prescribed grade level
- Plan lessons leading to subject area objectives and prepare written lesson plans for substitutes
- Use diverse media and methods to motivate students and optimize instruction time
- Identify student needs and collaborate with staff to address health, attitude, and learning issues
- Be available for counseling with students and parents before and after school
- Participate in community outreach activities like open house and PTA meetings
- Coordinate work of aides, paraprofessionals, and student teachers if applicable
- Work with the principal to develop evaluation and assessment systems
- Maintain accurate student records and complete required reports
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance at the worksite
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The noise level is usually moderate. Travel within the district is necessary. Remote work is not an option for campus-based roles due to the need for regular attendance and on-site duties.
Requirements include:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university; valid Texas teacher certificate with endorsements for the assigned subject and level
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to follow specific instructions with minimal prior experience
- Compliance with guidelines from Texas Education Agency and district policies
- Effective classroom management skills
- Flexibility and willingness to stay current professionally
