Job summary

Pasco School District No. 1 is seeking a Bilingual Specialized Program Paraeducator for the Early Learning Center in Pasco, WA. The role supports ABA-based interventions, communication development, and safety planning under the supervision of teachers and therapists.

SALARY: $23.12 - $25.92

Salary Schedules

AA Degree - $0.50/hour extra

BA Degree $0.75/hour extra

NEW HIRES ARE CONDITIONAL UPON PASSING A FINGERPRINT SCREENING

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support instruction and behavior interventions using ABA techniques such as prompting, positive reinforcement, discrete trial training (DTT), and task analysis as directed by the classroom teacher.
  • Facilitate expressive and receptive communication by modeling and encouraging student use of AAC devices, picture exchange systems, and other tools under teacher or therapist guidance.
  • Use proactive de-escalation strategies and follow the student’s behavior support plan and approved Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) techniques to ensure safety and support student regulation.
  • Deliver individualized or small group academic and functional instruction,monitorstudent engagement, and reinforce positive behaviors as directed by the teacher or specialist team.
  • Administers first aid to provide emergency care.
  • Assist with needs related to working with special needs students such as diapering, tube feeding, toileting, catheters, lifting, etc.
  • Provide one-on-one instruction or group instruction.
  • Assist classroom teacher and/or building administrator(s) with classroom management.
  • Assist with preparing materials needed to conduct lessons.
  • Provide support or supervision during student arrival and/or departure to include but not limited to unloading and/or loading wheelchair bound students.
  • Assist with light cleaning, issuing of equipment for necessary activities, setting up, taking down and/or supervising students during age-appropriate games/activities.
  • Adhere to District safety policies and/or procedures as well as required program guidelines.
  • Attend and complete annual required training hours for paraeducator certification.
  • Provide support and/or assistance with evaluations and data collection.
  • Maintain accurate and efficient student records within student information management system(s).
  • Participate in District meetings to communicate information and gain feedback and/or direction on a variety of issues.
  • Assists with supervision of students to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.

NON-ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist other personnel as may be required to support them with the completion of their work activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
  • Willingness to review materials provided by district personnel and/or willingness to attend college classes for the purpose of improving instructional skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Bilingual and/or Biliterate (Spanish), required.
  • Must meet one or more of the following:
    • Associates degree (AAS, AA) or higher;
    • Earned 72 college quarter credits or 48 semester credits in college level 100 or higher courses;
    • Passing score onthe Educational Testing Service (ETS) paraeducator assessment.
  • Prior paraeducator experience, college, or on-the job experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience working withpreschool aged students who are special needs preferred but not required.
  • Valid First aid and/or CPR card for infants and children or willing to obtain.
  • Prior experience in a K-12 school setting preferred but not required.
  • Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) trained or willing to attend training.

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND TESTING:

  • Passing score on district administered bilingual test.
