Job summary

Espanola Public Schools, James H. Rodriguez Elementary in Española, New Mexico, is seeking a Special Education Teacher to implement IEPs and provide targeted instruction for students with disabilities.

Qualifications

• Properly certified in all areas of assignment.
• Demonstrate cooperativeness and a willingness to carry out tasks and responsibilities.
• Bilingual Endorsed is highly preferable.
• Other qualifications determined necessary by the Board.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the IEP for students on caseload, including reevaluation packets and components of the IEP.
• Conduct Annual IEPs by the due date.
• Submit Re-evaluation packets 60 days before due date.
• Schedule and conduct EDT meetings within timelines.
• Work with staff to implement IEP and curriculum requirements.
• Provide a basic care program aligned with state codes and district guidelines.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers on regular classes to support SPED students.
• Communicate with parents and staff about student wellbeing and progress.
• Assist in screening, evaluating, and recommending placements in SPED.
• Motivate students and maintain appropriate behavior standards.
• Maintain attendance and all student activity records.
• Participate in committees and sponsor student activities.
