Maryville Academy is seeking dedicated Bilingual (Spanish/English) Youth Care Workers for full-time overnight shifts (11 p.m. - 7 a.m.) at the San Juan Diego Unaccompanied Children's Shelter in Des Plaines, IL.

Position Overview

The Care Provider supports a diverse population of unaccompanied minors, providing day-to-day care, guidance, and supervision in a safe and nurturing environment. Responsibilities include managing daily routines, ensuring safety, and assisting with behavioral and emotional processing.

Essential Functions
  • Follow all policies and procedures of Maryville and the Unaccompanied Children’s Program.
  • Provide for the basic needs of children including nutrition, hygiene, clothing, and education.
  • Serve as a positive role model and supervise youth at all times.
  • Transport youth safely to scheduled activities.
  • Complete logs, reports, and assist youth with emotional processing.
  • Attend at least 40 hours of training annually.
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s in human services preferred.
  • At least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license.
  • Experience working with youth in residential settings preferred.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in Spanish and English.
  • Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting up to 40 pounds and providing physical restraint if necessary.
Benefits and Compensation

Hourly rate of $20.00 - $21.28, with benefits including health insurance, vision, dental, paid time off, holidays, long-term disability, life insurance, and tuition reimbursement.
