Job summary

The Kodiak Island Borough School District is seeking an Aide III Bilingual/Sign Language Interpreter at Kodiak Middle School. This position assists teachers, supports IEP/ELAP goals, and communicates with students, families, and staff using English and a second language as required.

Work is 6.5 hours per day, 5 days a week, with an entry wage of $20.38 per hour. The district is an Equal Opportunity Employer and welcomes diverse applicants.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English and a second language specified by the district.
• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of students, staff, school business, materials, and information.
• Ability to lift 20 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Work under the supervision of the teacher/supervisor to support IEP/ELAP goals.
• Prepare and use instructional materials and equipment.
• Assist students with work or projects.
• Duplicate materials and assist in handling instructional records.
• Supervise playground and field trips; assist with inventory.
• May monitor the classroom independently when the teacher is away.
• Assist with behavior management and small group instruction.
• Support cultural activities related to student backgrounds.
