Job summary

Medavie is hiring a Senior Group Underwriter to join our pricing team. You will help set pricing for group health, life and disability insurance, including RFP and renewal work, and draft financial agreements.

You’ll negotiate with advisors and clients, and support other departments while mentoring junior underwriters. Fluency in English and French is required for daily collaboration across teams; a post‑secondary degree in business or mathematics and 5–10 years in group insurance pricing are

Qualifications

  • A post-secondary degree in business administration, mathematics, actuarial science, statistics, or finance.
  • 5–10 years of experience in group insurance pricing or a related field.
  • Strong Excel and Word skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent reasoning, judgment, and decision‑making abilities.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Fluent in English; French proficiency required for cross‑team collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Establish pricing during the RFP process.
  • Establish renewal pricing and pricing for benefit modifications.
  • Draft financial agreements and prepare related financial reports.
  • Negotiate files with group insurance advisors.
  • Meet with market intermediaries or clients to explain and negotiate files.
  • Provide technical support to other departments and train juniors.
