Job summary

The New York Foundling's School Based Mental Health Program (SBMH) seeks a licensed clinician to deliver school-based individual, group, and family services across NYC schools. You will conduct intakes, create treatment plans, provide crisis intervention, and collaborate with caregivers and school staff to support students' mental health needs.

Responsibilities include documenting progress, delivering psychoeducational workshops, and building partnerships within the school community.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work or related field; provisional license required (LP-MHC, LMSW, LMHC, or LCSW).
• Fluent in English/Spanish.
• Experience with diverse populations and culturally responsive practices.
• Preferred knowledge of evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed counseling.
• Understanding of risk, safety assessment, HIPAA, and incident reporting.

Responsibilities

• Provide school-based individual, group, and/or family services to assigned caseload and/or connect clients to community resources.
• Conduct thorough intakes, screenings and assessments; create treatment plans to support diagnosis, goals and case conceptualization.
• Provide direct clinical crisis intervention using methods aligned with evidence-based models; address safety factors.
• Maintain clear, concise documentation of treatment in progress notes per guidelines.
• Engage caregivers and key participants to support engagement and collaboration across systems.
• Provide psychoeducational workshops to schools, staff, caregivers and students.
• Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with school administration, counselors and parent coordinators.
• Participate in trainings, coaching and staff meetings to promote effective service delivery.
