Job summary

Lewis Tree Service is hiring a Safety Specialist to lead and model our safety program across field operations in the Maryland/Baltimore region. You will partner with Operations to implement improvements, conduct huddles, and coach crews on safe work practices.

The role requires up-to-date OSHA/ANSI knowledge, a valid driver's license, and strong bilingual communication in Spanish and English. Expect travel 30–40% and a commitment to ESOP values and continuous learning.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a related field or equivalent combination of High School diploma/GED with safety/industry-related credentials (CUSP, CTSP, ASP, GSP, ISA Arborist) or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in line clearance or related industry.
• Knowledge of OSHA and ANSI requirements; OSHA 30 Hour or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety initiatives and model Lewis's Operating Principles.
• Build and maintain partnerships with Operations to drive safety improvements.
• Participate in morning huddles and deliver safety moments to job crews.
• Conduct worksite observations to identify risks and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
• Provide timely safety guidance and interpretation of company procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Train employees on safety fundamentals and advanced skills (roping, rigging, PPE).
• Investigate incidents and provide reports with recommendations for leadership.
• Communicate safety program needs with regional leadership.
• Report to Safety and Operations leadership and travel as required.
