Compellier is currently seeking a dedicated Bilingual Safety Specialist to promote and manage a safe working environment for all employees. In this role, you will collaborate with various organizational units to ensure compliance with all company safety policies and applicable health and safety laws. You will be responsible for developing and implementing policies that create and maintain a safe workplace.

DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Safety Specialist’s primary responsibility is to promote and manage a safe working environment for all employees.

The goal is to ensure the workplace complies with all legal standards and actively supports occupational health and safety initiatives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide expertise on environmental, safety, health issues, and regulations to all leadership levels
  • Shift safety culture from compliance to behavior-driven safety at all organization levels
  • Oversee incident investigations, develop corrective actions, and follow-up to prevent recurrence
  • Develop and standardize work processes, standards, and equipment
  • Influence leadership decisions to improve safety and business outcomes
  • Communicate regularly with operational leadership and Safety Director on concerns and metrics
  • Collaborate with regional leadership to develop safety programs and plans
  • Assist locations with goals, objectives, and training verification
  • Inspect equipment and machinery for unsafe conditions on-site and in regional offices
  • Report on safety awareness, issues, and statistics
  • Write and update site-specific safety plans
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Must be bilingual
  • Interpersonal skills to earn respect and trust of field employees and foremen
  • Basic Excel skills for data analysis and reporting
  • Proven safety professional experience

  • Ability to produce detailed reports and policies
  • Knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment
  • Strong organizational and self-motivation skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail and observation skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in construction, safety, business, or related field, or
  • Associate's Degree in Safety Management with 2 years of EHS experience, or
  • High School Diploma with 3 years of EHS experience
  • Nationally recognized Environmental Certifications are a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Climb, crawl, and walk while carrying or operating machinery and tools on uneven surfaces
  • Lift, pull, push, and carry up to 80 lbs
  • Identify safety hazards and communicate effectively
  • Perform manual labor outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Use appropriate safety gear
  • Distinguish between colors
  • Bend, squat, twist, and reach as needed
  • Travel approximately 80% to various sites in multiple states, 4 days a week
