Job summary

St. Luke's University Health Network is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support day-to-day medication order processing and customer service within the hospital pharmacy. The role involves filling prescriptions, labeling, and coordinating with insurers and healthcare staff to resolve issues.

Qualifications

• PA Pharmacy Technician Licensure required; National certification preferred.
• 3–5 years retail pharmacy experience preferred.
• Professional demeanor; ability to respect confidentiality of patient data; strong communication skills.
• Ability to type at least 35 words per minute; knowledge of computer operations.
• Knowledge of medication brand and generic names; knowledge of insurance and third-party payment systems.
• Successful completion of on-the-job training within the first six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Follows workflow procedures for day-to-day processing of patient medication orders.
• Collaborates with pharmacy teams, medical staff, insurance companies, and customers to resolve issues and ensure timely delivery.
• Fills medications from computer-generated labels and verifies accuracy.
• Answers telephone/window and assists visitors to the pharmacy appropriately.
• Directs drug information questions to a pharmacist and communicates information to the next shift.
• Assists the Pharmacist in filling prescription items as permitted by the State Board of Pharmacy.
• Labels products appropriately with cautionary or auxiliary labels.
• Keeps inventory, places orders, checks in drugs and supplies, and removes outdated items.
• Inputs patient data medication orders into a computer system and prepares medications for dispensing.
• Packages medications for delivery and processes returns to stock.
• Maintains confidentiality of materials and adheres to safety policies.
• Demonstrates Service Excellence Standards in interactions with customers and staff.
