Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• PA Pharmacy Technician Licensure required; national certification preferred.
• 3–5 years retail pharmacy experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills and confidentiality required.
• Knowledge of pharmacy insurance plans and rules.
• Able to type at least 35 words per minute.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and calculations.
• Experience with pharmacy computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacist in processing outpatient prescriptions.
• FIll medications from computer-generated labels and manage inventory.
• Answer phones and assist customers with insurance questions.
• Take payment at point of sale and handle cash register.
• Communicate with hospital staff, physicians and insurers professionally.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and maintain a clean work area.
• Direct drug information questions to a pharmacist and relay to technicians.
• Support training of new employees as needed.
