The Minnesota Lawyer Referral and Information Service (MNLRIS) is seeking a compassionate, bilingual (Spanish/English) communicator to connect individuals with legal services and resources. This fully remote, part-time opportunity is ideal for someone who thrives on helping others and values mission-driven work. What You’ll Do· Answer and respond to calls from the public in Spanish and English.
· Assess whether the caller has a legal issue and direct them to the appropriate resources or legal services.
· Refer callers to panel attorneys or outside agencies as appropriate—without providing legal advice.
· Maintain accurate and confidential records, logs, and statistics.
· Support programs such as: Legal Access Point (LAP), Misdemeanor Defense Panel (MDP), and Reduced Fee Project.
· • Update directories of attorneys and service agencies.
· • Handle follow-up communications with clients and attorneys.
What We’re Looking For· You’re fluent in Spanish and confident switching between languages on calls.
· You enjoy helping people and bring a calm, empathetic demeanor.
· You have strong judgment, boundaries, and emotional steadiness.
· You’re dependable and respect pre-scheduled work hours.
· You’re comfortable with technology—confident using Microsoft Office (especially Teams), online systems, and learning new tools.
· You’re organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently in a remote setting.
· You’ve worked with diverse populations and care about equitable service.
Schedule & Remote SetupThis is a fully remote position requiring a quiet, private workspace and reliable internet.
We provide a laptop and software access.
Weekly hours:
• Fridays: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM (required)
• Tuesdays: availability required for team meetings
• Remaining hours (to reach 15–20/week) are scheduled based on mutual availability with the team.
