Job summary

CAMBA is hiring a Recreation Aide in Brooklyn, NY. The role involves maintaining client confidentiality, facilitating recreational activities, and coordinating events to support clients’ well-being.

You will assist with program marketing, track equipment usage, and prepare periodic reports while ensuring safety and privacy policies are followed. A minimum of one year of relevant experience is required, with basic reading, writing, and math skills necessary to perform duties.

Qualifications

• One year of relevant experience in recreation or related field.
• Ability to comprehend basic reading, writing, and math skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain professional relationships with clients and client confidentiality.
• Practice Universal Precautions/Standard Protocol & Procedures.
• Comply with any and all Federal, State, City and CAMBA security and privacy policies intended to protect the security and privacy of individually identifiable health information.
• Assist with the teaching of physical education, arts and crafts, performing arts, music, sports, ADL or other recreational activities.
• Help plan, coordinate and facilitate social and/or peer support events for clients.
• Organize, and co‑facilitate group community activities.
• Assist with the design and production of aesthetic visuals for public spaces of the shelter which reflect cultural, seasonal and programmatic themes.
• Communicate effectively with clients, CAMBA staff, community members and with funders.
• Track and keep records of equipment and supplies used.
• Ensure that recreation facilities and equipment are used properly.
• Monitor clients' progress toward their goals (dates achieved) and document via progress notes.
• Market the program in order to recruit clients.
• Provide all required information for weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reports.
• May conduct initial and ongoing assessments of clients’ situations and needs.
• May prepare marketing materials for the program.
• May create and maintain client files.
• May input client data and client progress information into automated database.
• Tasks may be modified, expanded and/or assigned over time.

Education
