Job summary

Movement Search & Delivery is assisting a leading thermoplastics manufacturer in Tampa, FL to find a Production Manager who will oversee safe, efficient operation of all plant functions and prioritize work for Operations staff.

You will drive continuous improvement, manage capital projects, mentor staff, and champion lean methodologies while ensuring customer satisfaction and financial performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of manufacturing plant experience with demonstrated impact.
• Experience in thermoplastics manufacturing preferred.
• Strong background in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate all plant functions including Manufacturing, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Shipping/Warehouse and Process Engineering.
• Develop and execute the plant AOP to improve profitability, productivity and efficiency via process improvements and capital projects.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives and act as change agent.
• Support capital expenditures and project delivery; ensure on-time, on-budget results.
• Ensure safety, environmental compliance, and strong employee relations across the plant.

Our client is leading manufacturer of custom thermoplastic compounds, advanced polymers, and engineered PVC solutions for various manufacturing industries

About the role:

The Production Manager has direct responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of all manufacturing-related functions. Responsible for prioritizing the work assignments of all Operations personnel. Will foster a team-focused work environment to achieve plant and company goals, including safety, environmental, productivity, quality, maintenance, continuous improvement, employee relations and financial performance.

• Direct and coordinate all plant functions including Manufacturing, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Shipping/Warehouse and Process Engineering
• Capital expenditures - Collaborate with other functions to develop the business case and manage the project completion (timeline and costs), as well as the delivery of the benefits promised in the business case
• Guide and support the Maintenance of staff regarding preventive maintenance, repairs and facility improvements and capital expenditures. Should have mechanical expertise and some electrical knowledge.
• Provide engineering support for equipment installations and facility expansion
• Support evaluation and implementation of production capability expansions to serve growing markets
• Lead and support the development of plant employees and plant succession planning activities
• Develop and execute the plant AOP to improve profitability, productivity and efficiency via process improvements and capital projects
• Lead the successful integration of plant operations.
• Actively drive continuous improvement methodologies throughout the facility and plant personnel. Act as a change agent, systematically driving a continuous improvement of culture.
• Be proactive and responsive to all facets of customer satisfaction including delivery, schedule changes and special instructions. Balance customer needs with operational efficiencies.
• Improve the engagement and satisfaction of the employees. Should be very skilled at employee engagement and change management.

Background:

• Requires a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline; Chemical or Mechanical engineering degree is preferred.
• Spanish language proficiency is strongly preferred but not required.
• Experience with thermoplastics manufacturing is strongly preferred.
• Continuous improvement, lean manufacturing leadership and practical implementation experience strongly preferred
• Minimum 5 years' experience in manufacturing plants with a record of impact and career progression.
