Job summary

La Joya Independent School District's Juan N. Seguin Elementary in Mission, Texas is seeking a Pre-K Instructional Assistant to support bilingual PK EL students in a non-exempt, instructional capacity.

The role includes assisting with instructional activities, providing language support in English and Spanish, and helping implement a rigorous bilingual curriculum under the PK Bilingual teacher guidance. Funding is through the 172 State Bilingual program.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and 48 college hours or 2 years postsecondary education.
• Educational aides should be certified and/or be able to attain a certificate per SBEC standards (19 TAC 230.51).
• Fluency in English and Spanish to support PK EL students.

Responsibilities

• Administers, scores, and records achievement and diagnostic tests for PK EL students.
• Works with PK EL students or small groups to reinforce material.
• Assists PK Bilingual teacher with strategies for reinforcing material based on EL students’ needs.
• Operates and cares for equipment used in PK Bilingual classroom for instructional purposes.
• Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up by the PK Bilingual teacher.
• Performs other duties as assigned in PK Bilingual classrooms.
