Qualifications

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English required.
  • High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Prior experience in specialty pharmacy, healthcare access, or customer support.
  • Familiarity with CRMs (Salesforce preferred).
  • Experience with prior authorizations and insurance verification.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Empathy, patience, and professionalism in handling sensitive or urgent situations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct benefit investigations by contacting payers to verify coverage details.
  • Document patient-specific insurance information, including cost share, coverage limits, and access restrictions.
  • Assist healthcare providers with prior authorizations and reimbursement questions.
  • Support patients and providers with the appeals process as needed.
  • Communicate benefit details to patients and providers in a timely, professional manner.
  • Identify alternate funding or access programs to reduce delays in treatment.
  • Track and escalate trends or issues to management as needed.

The Patient Access Specialist will support the healthcare providers addressing questions regarding coding and billing and navigating complex reimbursement issues. This position also provides support for Prior Authorizations for an assigned caseload and helps navigate the appeals process to access medications.
