Job summary

Community Academies of New Orleans (CANO) is seeking a Bi-Lingual Paraprofessional to support instructional staff in a diverse classroom. The role emphasizes language support, student engagement, and helping implement lessons under the teacher's direction.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma and a willingness to collaborate with families; bilingual ability and EL paraprofessional experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Bi-Lingual ability is essential for translating and supporting EL students.
• Two years of English Learner paraprofessional experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher with preparing and presenting lessons under supervision.
• Translate instructions into students' first language and translate student discussion for the teacher.
• Interpret for parents during conferences, on the phone, or at parent night.
• Translate letters and notes between teacher/school and parents.
• Support assessment of student needs, goals, and motivational levels.
