Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide supplemental assistance to the teacher for classroom activities and administrative tasks with identified ESL/Bilingual students.
• Work under the supervision of a certified teacher.
• Assist with instructional materials, classroom displays, and administrative reports.
• Support inventory, equipment care, and maintenance.
• Assist with orientation and guidance for substitute teachers.
• Support student management during the school day, including group and individual activities.

POSITION SUMMARY

• Provide supplemental assistance for the teacher in the preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements when working with identified ESL or Bilingual students


• Work under the supervision of a certified teacher

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification

• High School Diploma or GED


• Must have completed 30 college hours;OR


• Met a rigorous standard of quality, demonstrated through a formal State or local academic assessment


• Valid Texas educational aide certificate

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Instructional Support

• Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays


• Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments


• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom


• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment


• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports


• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers

Student Management

• Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher, work with individual students or small groups


• Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom this includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty


• Keep the teacher informed of the special needs or problems of individual students


• Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance


• Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned


• Other duties as assigned
