Description
The Staff Therapist works from a recovery framework within the team providing individual and group psychotherapy using psychotherapeutic interventions (evidenced based practices preferred), cultural sensitivity, and trauma informed care to help individuals reach their recovery goals.
Staff Therapist’s provides a comprehensive assessment of individuals (who may be children or adults) who may have co-occurring diagnoses. The staff therapist develops a recovery plan in partnership with the individual/family. When indicated and appropriate, the recovery plan will include goals, objectives and interventions aimed to also address substance use and health & wellness goals which impact behavioral health goals. The staff therapist uses a range of psychotherapeutic interventions, including evidence-based practices (EBPs), including motivational interviewing and may also include other EBPs.
Bilingual Outpatient Therapist Duties And Responsibilities
- Provides recovery-oriented screenings and comprehensive bio-psycho-social assessments for assigned individual with reference to substance use challenges, when appropriate.
- Provides individual and group therapy to address addictive behaviors that complicate primary mental/behavioral health issues, using Evidence Based practices and approaches.
- Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings, supervision, and reviews to ensure coordination and effective treatment, including collaboration with external teams.
- Views individuals from a strengths-based, recovery-focused perspective when developing treatment plans.
- Completes assessments, reports, and structured screening tools regularly to ensure quality data and outcome reporting.
- Maintains and updates community resources, shares information with the team.
- Completes all clinical documentation and paperwork according to program guidelines and deadlines.
- Participates in required training, supervision, and agency meetings for professional development.
- Maintains professional and ethical standards in all interactions and services.
- Adheres to all program, agency, and regulatory requirements and guidelines.
- Plans and assists individuals to increase community tenure, improve quality of life, and attain independence.
- Manages caseload effectively, including outreach, scheduling, and discharge planning.
- Provides flexibility in scheduling, including participating in on-call rotations and evening/weekend hours if needed.
- Completes all required training for certification as a CCBHC therapist.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Bilingual Outpatient Therapist Skill Requirements
- Understanding of clerical procedures such as recordkeeping and filing.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and cultural sensitivity.
- Knowledge of recovery and treatment systems.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
- Professionalism and ethical conduct.
- Computer literacy, including electronic health records, conferencing tools, and Office products.
Qualifications
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) required.
- Master’s degree (License preferred) and at least 3 years of experience in behavioral health/substance use.
- Full certification as an addiction counselor or co-occurring disorder professional, or relevant licensure (LCSW, LSW, LPC).
- Experience with individuals with mental health and substance use diagnoses.
- Valid PA State Criminal, FBI, Child Abuse clearances.
- Current ACT 31 (Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting) certification.
- Two years’ verifiable paid experience in mental health.
- Culturally sensitive and trauma-informed approach.
- Licensure supervision available.
