Job summary

American Vision Partners (AVP) is seeking a Bilingual Surgery Assistant in Las Cruces, NM to support the peri-operative team in a fast-paced ophthalmology setting.

You will greet patients, assist pre-op and post-op, help with room turnover, maintain infection control, and support the patient care team while delivering excellent service. Spanish-English bilingual required; CPR certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required, completed.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English required.
• Customer Service experience.
• One-year medical office and/or surgery experience preferred.
• CPR certification.
• Experience in Ophthalmology a plus.
• Detail oriented, reliable and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexible schedule Monday–Friday.
• Safety Sensitive position.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and visitors promptly and courteously.
• Assists with pre-op and post-op as directed by surgeon, anesthesia provider and/or nurse.
• Transfers patient from pre-op to surgery suite and monitors setup.
• Assists with operating room turnover and room closure.
• Provides nourishment to patients as directed by the RN.
• Pre-op patient monitoring hookup assistance.
• Performs tasks to support patient care and smooth surgery flow.
• Prepares surgical site and equipment as needed.
• Makes pre- and post-operative patient calls as needed.
• Stocks nourishment refrigerator and reports equipment issues.
• Maintains infection control guidelines.
