Job summary

American Vision Partners (AVP) is seeking a Bilingual Ophthalmic Assistant to prepare patients for exams and gather essential medical information. You will perform preliminary tests and measurements while delivering an exceptional patient experience.

Ideal candidates are bilingual in Spanish, have a High School Diploma or GED, and at least 1 year of ophthalmology experience. COA/COT is a plus, and the schedule is Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in Spanish required.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of ophthalmology experience preferred.
• COA or COT certification a plus.
• Detail oriented; reliable and able to multitask in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexible schedule, Mon-Fri.

Responsibilities

• Welcomes patients and visitors with a positive, warm disposition.
• Keeps doctors’ rooms filled to ensure clinic patient flow.
• Obtains patient histories through intake assessments, noting findings in the EHR.
• Performs visual acuity, auto-refraction, manual and automated lensometry, tonometry, and keratometry tests.
• Checks pupils, extra-ocular muscles, dilation, and records results.
• Runs diagnostic tests such as Immersion A-scan, OCTs and Visual Fields.
• Administers color vision, depth perception and Schirmer’s tear testing as needed.
• Assists in minor office procedures (lasers, excisions, etc.).
• Educates patients on ophthalmic conditions and consent for procedures and surgery.
• Maintains exam rooms, including cleaning and sterilization.
