Job summary

American Vision Partners (AVP) is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join our ophthalmology team in California. The role involves preparing the operating room, assisting with sterile technique, draping, passing instruments, and supporting the surgeon during procedures.

You will also handle front desk tasks as needed and travel may be required. Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program, CST certification, ophthalmology

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or GED.
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program.
• CST Certification is required.
• Experience in a surgical environment; Ophthalmology experience is a plus.
• Detail oriented, reliable and able to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexible schedule Monday-Friday.
• Travel to other locations may be required; travel time and mileage are paid benefits.
• REQUIRED: Bilingual in Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating room for surgery, gathering equipment and supplies, and ensuring sterility.
• Assists with washing, shaving and disinfecting the surgical site.
• Sets up and maintains sterile field with sterile technique at all times.
• Assists with draping, sponging, retracting, passing instruments and supplies to the surgeon, and other duties as requested.
• Supports the surgeon by anticipating needs and ensuring necessary equipment is available.
• Assists in care or disposal of specimens and wound dressing.
• Helps transfer the patient to and from the operating room.
• Supports the front desk with answering phones, pulling charts, and other clerical tasks as needed.
