Job summary

Louisiana Women’s Healthcare is seeking a full-time Bilingual Medical Assistant for our OB‑GYN clinic in Baton Rouge. You will support physicians, prepare exam rooms, document vitals, and assist during examinations, with patient flow optimized across the schedule.

Responsibilities include charting in EMR, specimen handling, HIPAA compliance, and collaboration with the nursing team. The role requires Spanish fluency, a MA program, and reliability in a fast-paced women’s health setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must read/speak Spanish fluently.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program (or equivalent clinical experience).
• Experience obtaining vital signs and assisting with patient examinations.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Greet and escort patients to the exam area in a timely and courteous manner.
• Update patient demographics and medical history in the EMR system.
• Obtain and accurately document vital signs.
• Record the chief complaint and initiate documentation for the physician.
• Maintain clear and effective communication with nursing staff and the physician.
• Monitor the daily schedule and coordinate efficient patient flow.
• Assist with collection, labeling, and handling of specimens for laboratory testing.
• Enter laboratory orders as directed by the physician.
• Ensure all encounter forms are completed prior to discharge.
• Demonstrate flexibility and availability per schedule to support other providers as needed.
• Maintain exam rooms to ensure they are clean, organized, and fully stocked.
