Job summary

Dallas City Hall is hiring a Nutritionist for the Office of Housing & Community Empowerment, WIC Program, full-time. You will determine eligibility, provide VENA, and counsel participants on nutrition and benefits.

The role supports breastfeeding and collaborates with healthcare providers to promote maternal-infant health. Responsibilities include teaching nutrition education, issuing breastfeeding equipment as needed, and assisting with clinic operations; bilingual English/Spanish is preferred

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 12 hours in food and nutrition and 6 hours in life sciences.
• Experience in WIC programs or community nutrition preferred.
• Bilingual Spanish helpful; willingness to obtain certification if required.

Responsibilities

• Determine WIC program eligibility via interview and assessment.
• Provide Value Enhanced Nutrition Assessment (VENA) to participants.
• Counsel on nutrition, lab results, and benefit disbursement.
• Support breastfeeding promotion and education.
• Refer participants to healthcare providers and document follow-ups.
• Operate clinic duties including intake, benefits, and receptionist work as needed.
• Assume supervisor duties in their absence and support clinic operations.
