Job summary

NBCUniversal in San Diego is seeking a News Producer to create a daily newscast, research stories, write copy and edit video for broadcast and digital platforms. You will oversee production, assign stories, coordinate with anchors, manage live shots, and ensure timely, accurate coverage for NBC7 and Telemundo 20.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Spanish and English with strong written and verbal skills.
• 2+ years of experience as a broadcast producer.
• Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, or related field.
• At least one year of news editing experience.
• Knowledge of AP style writing and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Produce and manage daily newscasts across broadcast and digital platforms.
• Write scripts, promos, teases, headlines and topicals; edit with non-linear software.
• Assign stories, angles, and shooting locations to producers.
• Create set graphics and blocking with APC operators and anchors.
• Coordinate live shots and communicate with anchors during broadcasts.
• Respond to breaking news with accuracy and urgency.
• Stay informed about the San Diego news market and contribute ideas.
• Publish video, images, and text for the website; manage livestreams.
