Job summary

The United States Agency for Global Media is seeking a supervisory journalist for the Office of Cuba Broadcasting to lead coverage, coordinate assignments, and ensure accurate, timely reporting on Cuba and related regions.

You will work with editors, assign coverage to correspondents and freelancers, and oversee final text and audiovisual reports while meeting program deadlines and national security requirements.

Qualifications

• Must have extensive knowledge of Cuba: people, culture, history, politics, economics and current events.
• Fluency in English and Spanish must be listed in your resume to be considered.
• Minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty comparable to GS-12.

Responsibilities

• Reviews a wide range of news sources to stay abreast of events for Cuba Broadcasting.
• Discusses main and regional line-ups with editors; reviews, edits and approves final text and audiovisual reports.
• Makes general assignments based on news events, deadlines and audience interests.
• Assigns coverage to correspondents and freelancers, managing day-to-day coverage and deadlines.
