Job description

Job Title: Bilingual Mental Health Expert

Date: May 12, 2025

Location: Ottawa, ON (Remote: Yes)

Department: Pharma Patient Solutions

Calian PSP is seeking a part-time Bilingual Mental Health Expert (MHE). This remote position offers flexible hours and competitive wages. The MHE team will review documents and submissions from claimants and the Correctional Service of Canada, reporting findings to the Ontario Superior Court of Justice or the Superior Court of Québec.

Responsibilities:
  1. Participate in orientation and training related to protocols, IT, and security.
  2. Review and evaluate:
    • Claimants’ submissions
    • Department of Justice submissions
    • Correctional Service of Canada file documentation
  3. Determine if the claimant has a Serious Mental Illness diagnosis impacting their case, as per class definition.
  4. Complete reports with findings and conclusions regarding claimant eligibility and harms identified in the Damages Grid.
  5. Coordinate with the Administrator to facilitate information exchange and report delivery within deadlines, including invoicing and administrative tasks.
  6. Follow guidance from the Lead Mental Health Expert to oversee assessment processes.
  7. Maintain own office space, supplies, and resources, including a secure internet connection.
Qualifications:
  • Current practicing registration (good standing) with the appropriate Canadian College/Association based on discipline and location.
  • Licensed as a registered nurse in Canada with recent mental health experience.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze complex clinical data, providing assessments and decisions based on professional expertise.
  • Knowledge of psychopathology, mental and behavioral disorders, DSM criteria, and assessment of treatment needs.
  • At least 2 years of experience in forensic health, correctional health, or psychiatric care.
  • Adjudication experience in disability programs is an asset.
  • Work must be performed from within Canada.
  • Proficiency with computerized systems, internet, Microsoft Office, and spreadsheets.
  • Bilingual in French and English is required.
