Job summary

Northside Hospital Inc. is seeking a skilled medical translator to translate documents from English into the target language in a hospital setting, supporting patient care and education.

This PRN role requires precision, strong ethics, and familiarity with CAT tools, with weekend rotating shifts. You will review, proof, and deliver translations for forms, educational materials, and marketing content to ensure clear communication for patients and staff.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in English and the target language.
• Superior knowledge of medical vocabulary in the source and target languages.
• Training and/or certification in foreign language translation.
• Two (2) years' experience translating, proofreading, and editing medical materials from English to the target language.
• Demonstrated understanding of and adherence to the American Translators Association (ATA) Code of Ethics and Professional Practice.
• Computer skills and knowledge of word-processing programs (i.e. Microsoft Word for Windows).
• Experience working with computer-assisted translation (CAT) programs (i.e. SDL Trados).
• Knowledge of glossaries and translation memories.
• Two (2) years' experience in a medical setting or a customer service, advocacy, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Produces, reviews, proofs, and delivers translations of hospital documents such as medical record forms, patient education materials, and marketing materials from English into the target language as assigned by the coordinator.
• Translate patient education materials and marketing materials to the target language with accuracy and consistency.
