Job summary

County of Santa Clara seeks an experienced language services professional to develop and oversee the Language Services Department programs across Santa Clara Valley Healthcare.

Responsibilities include coordinating interpreters, training staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing clinical interpretation for patients in multiple languages; fluency in Spanish, Vietnamese, or Cantonese encouraged.

This role may require travel between hospitals and clinics within the county.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and related analytical/lead experience can substitute for education.
• Two years of full-time medical interpreting or translation experience in a health care setting, with lead/supervisory capacity.
• Fluency in a third language is desirable.
• Possession and maintenance of Medical Interpreter/Translator Certification.
• Ability to travel to alternate locations and a valid California driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Plans, coordinates one or more Language Services Department programs.
• Interviews, selects, and hires staff.
• Develops and implements staff training.
• Interprets and translates for patients during medical assessment and services.
• Interfaces with hospital departments and other County departments.
• May be assigned as Disaster Service Worker (DSW).
