Job summary

Northeast Georgia Health System is seeking a Medical Interpreter to provide interpretation and translation services for non-English speaking patients and families across the facility. The role supports leadership awareness of cultural influences and serves as a patient advocate, ensuring clear communication and access to resources to alleviate fears during hospitalization or outpatient visits.

Qualifications

• Must hold a 40-hour Medical Interpretation Certificate (approved at NGHS) obtained within 4 months of hire date.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year of customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Render a complete and accurate interpretation without altering, omitting, or adding to the meaning of what is stated or written.
• Remain neutral in interpretations and separate personal beliefs from those of the parties.
• Assist with interpretation of unit forms and communication regarding consent forms and obtaining patient signatures.
• Coordinate time with staff and physicians for scheduled appointments for identified non-English speaking patients.
