Job summary

Elica Health Centers in Sacramento is seeking a Medical Assistant to support providers, maintain HIPAA privacy, and ensure smooth patient flow while delivering high-quality care. You will collect vital signs, take patient history, and input data into Epic and Athena.

Responsibilities include room preparation, assisting with exams and injections, documenting results, and performing routine tests. Entry-level applicants are welcome, with preference for those with prior clinical experience.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Completion of a formal Medical Assistant program or demonstrates a comparable combination of training and experience.
Current BLS certification required.
Knowledge of basic clinic medical care and procedures.
Outstanding customer service skills, compassion, critical thinking skills, and the ability to demonstrate HIPAA confidentiality a must.
Ability to maintain records and files.
Ability to operate a computer, use office equipment including a copier, office telephone, and appropriate clinic equipment.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to exert physical effort maintaining and distributing files.

Responsibilities

Greets, prepares the patient, performs vitals measurements accurately, takes patient history and allergies, records and reconciles medications, inputs into Epic EHR, and assists with exams and procedures.
Prepares the exam room and workstation for Medical Provider; cleans and stocks rooms between patients.
Administers injections and diagnostic tests as ordered, including immunizations or other services, and documents in Athena EHR.
Completes Standing Orders per Elica’s policies and performs required tests prior to visits.
Chart prep to ensure all patient charts include results, directives, and PHQ9; follow up as needed.
Performs diagnostic tests such as audiometry, EKG, spirometry, urine tests.
Checks out patients and schedules follow-ups; informs front desk about payments.
Reports incidents to supervisor; documents and submits incident reports promptly.
Performs other duties as assigned.
