Job Description: Medical Assistant

The experienced Medical Assistant (MA) provides front desk assistance to providers in the preparation, examination, and treatment of patients. The MA is a critical partner in our Health Centers and will be cross-trained for back-office coverage as needed.

Responsibilities
  1. Greet and check in patients, verifying coverage and completing paperwork.
  2. Obtain patient history, take vital signs, and assist with care coordination.
  3. Administer medications.
  4. Prepare examination rooms and sterilize instruments per protocol.
  5. Answer calls, route messages, and schedule appointments, verifying benefit coverage.
  6. Review preprinted instructions with patients.
  7. Participate in staff meetings and training.
  8. Cross-train in new procedures and departments.
  9. Assist in onboarding new staff.

This position is with Evernorth, a new business unit within Cigna Corporation.

Qualifications
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • At least 1 year of front and back office experience.
  • Experience with patient scheduling and phone communication.
  • Phlebotomy skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including Electronic Health Records.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Team-oriented, responsible, and reliable.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

If working remotely, ensure internet speed of at least 10Mbps download and 5Mbps upload via cable broadband or fiber optic service.
