Job summary

Senior Helpers of Legacy Trail in Plano is seeking dedicated male, bilingual (English/Spanish) caregivers to support seniors and families in the community. Great pay, paid training, and flexible part-time scheduling with evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Caregiving experience preferred but not required; paid training provided.
• Must meet Texas caregiver requirements; valid Texas driver’s license.
• Reliable personal vehicle and ability to travel to Plano/Allen.
• Flexible evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• First Aid/CPR certification preferred; must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
• Pass a background check and drug screening.
• Demonstrates tact, patience, compassion and good hygiene.

Responsibilities

• Provide companionship, conversation, and emotional support.
• Engage clients in activities and monitor changes in behavior or condition.
• Perform light housekeeping, laundry, and meal preparation.
• Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming and basic care.
• Administer medication reminders and assist with reminders and basic care tasks.
• Document care activities accurately and report changes per EVV system and agency policy.
• Follow all policies outlined in Senior Helpers Employee Handbook.

What Will Our Caregiver Do?

Companionship & Engagement

• Provide meaningful companionship, conversation, and emotional support
• Engage clients in hobbies, activities, board games, and other appropriate activities
• Monitor Alzheimer’s and dementia clients for behavioral or condition changes and report promptly
• Offer a calm, consistent, and reassuring presence that clients and families can count on

Household & Daily Living

• Perform light housekeeping, laundry, and bed-making
• Plan and prepare nutritious meals; assist with feeding as appropriate
• Assist clients with errands, shopping, and transportation to appointments
• Support household management including apparel selection

Personal Care

• Assist with bathing, grooming, oral hygiene, dressing, and basic skin and foot care
• Provide toileting assistance, transferring (bed to chair, wheelchair, shower), and ambulation support
• Administer medication reminders and assist with catheter/ostomy care (empty only)
• Assist with diaper/brief changes and home exercise plans as directed

Documentation & Reporting

• Document care activities accurately and consistently with agency requirements
• Clock in and out for each shift using the agency’s electronic visit verification (EVV) system; record daily hours worked and services performed
• Report any significant changes in client condition to your supervisor immediatelyFollow all policies and procedures outlined in the Senior Helpers Employee Handbook

We Would Like Our Caregiver to Have These Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Prior home care or caregiving experience preferred - not required; paid training provided
• Ability to successfully complete Personal Care Services training and skills assessment
• Must meet Texas state requirements for caregiver services
• Valid Texas driver’s license with no serious violations and current auto insurance
• Reliable personal vehicle required; ability to travel to client homes throughout Plano and Allen
• Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screening
• First Aid / CPR certification preferred; must be obtained within 60 days of hire
• Demonstrates tact, patience, compassion, and good personal hygiene

Experience:

• Home care or direct caregiving experience: Preferred (not required)
• Experience working with seniors, individuals with disabilities, or Alzheimer’s/dementia clients: A plus
