New Alternatives for Children, Inc. (NAC) seeks a Bilingual Licensed Psychologist to join the Mental Health department at our NYC clinic. The role reports to the Mental Health leadership and offers full-time hours at our Midtown location.

A NYS license and a Ph.D./Psy.D. in psychology are required, with Spanish-language clinical service capability emphasized. Responsibilities include individual, family, and collateral psychotherapy, developmental evaluations, intake assessments, and staff

Qualifications

  • Active NYS license to practice psychology.
  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical, Applied Developmental, School, Counseling Psychology or related.
  • Ability to provide clinical services in Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Provides individual, family, and collateral psychotherapy sessions to children, adolescents and adults in NAC’s Mental Health Clinic.
  • Provides psychological and developmental evaluations.
  • Participates in Building Blocks parent-child bonding program with dyadic therapy.
  • Conducts intake assessments and diagnostic interviews.
  • Completes documentation including progress notes and treatment plans.
  • Acts as a psychological consultant to staff in child welfare programs.
  • Provides supervision to psychology trainees.
  • Participates in psychology internship/externship recruitment and program evaluation.
  • Provides didactic training to psychology trainees and NAC staff.
  • Receives supervision weekly from licensed psychologists and senior staff.
  • Participates in bi-monthly group supervision with licensed psychologists.

Bilingual Licensed Psychologist

New Alternatives for Children, Inc. (NAC) is an award-winning not-for-profit agency dedicated to serving children and families with medical complexities, chronic illnesses, and disabilities throughout the five boroughs. To assist in achieving this mission, NAC is currently seeking a Bilingual Licensed Psychologist to join its Mental Health department.

  • Position Type: Full-time
  • Salary Range: $81,000 - $86,000
  • Location: 825 7th Avenue, New York, NY, 10019
  • Department/Program: Mental Health
Responsibilities
  • Provides individual, family, and collateral psychotherapy sessions to children, adolescents and adults in NAC’s Mental Health Clinic
  • Provides psychological and developmental evaluations
  • Participates in NAC’s Building Blocks parent-child bonding program, providing dyadic therapy using a mentalization-based treatment modality
  • Conducts intake assessments and diagnostic interviews
  • Completes required documentation including progress notes and treatment plans
  • Acts as a psychological consultant to staff within NAC’s child welfare programs (i.e. Prevention and Foster Care)
  • Provides consultation to foster care staff and clinical care to children with foster care involvement as part of the Article 29I
  • Provides supervision to psychology trainees
  • Participates as part of the Psychology Training Committee (i.e. takes part in psychology internship and externship recruitment, evaluation of trainees, evaluation of the internship/externship programs, etc.)
  • Provides didactic training to psychology trainees and/or to NAC staff
  • Receives approximately two hours of supervision weekly provided by licensed psychologists, one hour provided by the Director of Psychological Services, and one hour provided by psychological consultants to the Building Blocks program
  • Participates in bi-monthly group supervision with licensed psychologists at NAC
Required Education and Experience
  • Must hold an active license in NYS to practice psychology and a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical, Applied Developmental, School, Counseling Psychology or closely related area from an accredited graduate psychology program.
Required Skills
  • Experience working with populations that represent a range of backgrounds and clinical presentations, and should have some experience with children with developmental or medical disabilities. Priority will be given to candidates familiar with administration of the ADOS-2 or other autism assessment measures. Must be able to provide clinical services in Spanish.
