  • Ensures permanency planning activities are timely and identify needs, providing or accessing a full range of clinical and concrete services.
  • Assists supervisees in prioritizing workloads.
  • Ensures staff meet ACS and NAC mandates and paperwork requirements.
  • Attends Family Team Conferences, Service Plan Reviews, and Case Reviews.
  • Prepares case planners for court proceedings and testifies when needed.
  • Works collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team model.
  • Ensures compliance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Rotating 24-hour on-call duty and Saturday office coverage.

Case Planner Supervisor, Specialized Family Foster Care

New Alternatives for Children, Inc. (NAC) is an award-winning not-for-profit agency in Midtown Manhattan dedicated to serving children and families with medical complexity, chronic health conditions, significant disabilities and behavioral challenges. NAC is a child welfare agency that honors the social work profession by offering support and consistent supervision which qualifies for LCSW licensure.

It is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic multidisciplinary team of professionals at an innovative agency with internal Article 28 & 31 clinics, serving the needs of some of the most vulnerable children and families in New York City.

  • Title of Position: Case Planner Supervisor, Specialized Family Foster Care
  • Position Type: Full Time, Monday - Friday, hybrid schedule.
  • Pay Range: $72,000 - $77,000 per year
  • Location: 825 7th Avenue New York, NY 10019
  • Department: Foster Care and Adoption Program
Description of Responsibilities
  • Reports to the Director of Specialized Foster Care and supervises a team of up to 6 staff members, including case planners, behavior specialists, case associates, and parent advocates.
  • Ensures that staff conduct permanency planning activities in an appropriate and timely manner and identify the needs of each case, providing or accessing the full range of clinical and concrete services required.
  • Assists supervisees in prioritizing workloads.
  • Ensures that case planners, behavior specialists, case associates and parent advocates meet all ACS and NAC mandates and paperwork requirements.
  • Attends Family Team Conferences, Service Plan Reviews, and Case Reviews.
  • Prepares case planners for court proceedings and is willing to testify.
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues in an interdisciplinary team model.
  • Ensures compliance with agency personnel policies and procedures.
  • Has responsibility on a rotating basis for 24-hour on-call duty and Saturday office administrative coverage.
Required Education and Experience
  • Master's degree in social work, mental health counseling, human services, psychology, public administration, or a related field with at least 3 years of child welfare experience; LMSW or LCSW preferred.
  • Knowledge of health-related factors in working with physically disabled and/or chronically ill children, as well as experience in child development.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred.
