Job summary

West Earl Township Police Department seeks an interpreter to bridge language gaps for diverse callers and staff. You will provide accurate written translations and verbal interpretations, ensuring clarity and cultural sensitivity in all interactions.

This full-time role requires a high school diploma, an accredited interpreting certificate, and excellent bilingual communication. You will maintain logs, uphold ethics, and support a safe, informed exchange between communities and law enforcement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Valid accredited interpreting training certificate is required.
• Excellent bilingual communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Valid driver's license and proficient computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Interpret between a wide range of people with diverse voices, accents, speaking tempos and personalities.
• Provide clear translations of written materials and interpretations of verbal communication.
• Interpret questions, answers, statements, arguments, explanations and other forms of verbal communication.
• Render sight translations of documents and other written materials.
• Convey tone, spirit, emotions and cultural nuances from source language into target language.
• Interpret with no additions or omissions.
• Inform relevant parties of factors that may hinder performance.
• Complete daily activity logs and other documentation.
• Comply with applicable ethics and standards.
