Job summary

Youth for Tomorrow in Bristow, VA is seeking an HR Recruiter to manage full-cycle recruiting, sourcing, and onboarding for a diverse nonprofit workforce. The role collaborates with department managers and supports the organization’s mission.

The position involves screening candidates, coordinating interviews and offers, ensuring background checks, and maintaining HR records while supporting campus events and job fairs. Hybrid work with on-site requirements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of high school diploma.
  • Bachelor's degree in HR, business administration, psychology, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two years full-cycle recruiting and talent acquisition experience.
  • Proven sourcing experience to attract passive candidates.
  • Minimum of two years HR or related experience preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English – speak, read, write.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
  • VA Notary Public preferred.
  • Ability to work on campus in Bristow, VA (HQ) a minimum of 2 days per week once trained.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with department managers to understand requirements, duties, and qualifications for vacancies.
  • Creates job postings and advertisements on multiple platforms to source viable candidates.
  • Stays current with YFT events and distributes recruitment materials.
  • Aggressively searches databases, social media, and other platforms daily to identify candidates.
  • Phone screens candidates, selects qualified candidates for interviews, and connects them with hiring managers.
  • Follows up with clients or hiring managers after interviews to determine placement feasibility; collects feedback.
  • Checks references and credentials of candidates and verifies experience.
  • Counsels candidates on the interview and hiring process.
  • Presents offers of employment contingent on background checks and pre-hire requirements.
  • Assists with collection of background check documents via in-person HR appointments.
  • Follows the background check process to ensure completion and compliance.
  • Scans pre-hire documents to electronic records and completes pre-hire checklist.
  • Collaborates with HR staff to meet hiring and training requirements for the HSPRS program.
  • Communicates to candidates and managers when eligible for orientation.
  • Organizes and attends job fairs and campus events.
  • Collects and analyzes data to understand market salaries, candidate availability, and demand.
  • Maintains compliance with EEO and related laws.
  • Tracks immunization records and notifies employees to complete requirements.
  • Assists with maintenance of personnel records and HRIS updates.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Youth For Tomorrow is a 501 (c) (3) and a faith-based, non-profit organization, founded in 1986 by Hall of Fame Football Coach Joe Gibbs. The organization is large, diverse, experienced, and committed to serving at-risk youth.

Schedule:

Hybrid - in-office 2 days per week (Monday and Friday), flexibility as needed for events or other exceptions. Attendance in person at community and college job fairs.

Role And Responsibilities
  • Collaborates with department managers to understand the requirements, duties, and qualifications desired for the specified vacant position(s).
  • Creates job postings and advertisements on multiple platforms to source viable candidates that meet the needs of the organization.
  • Stays current with all YFT-sponsored events and requests, and distributes recruitment materials
  • Aggressively searches all databases, social media, and other platforms on a daily basis to identify candidates for vacant positions
  • Phone screens candidates, selects qualified and interested candidates for the interviewing phase, and then connects viable candidates with hiring managers.
  • Follows up with clients or hiring managers after the interview process to determine whether a placement can be made; collects feedback when placement is unsuccessful.
  • Checks candidates' references and credentials, verifying experience and backgrounds.
  • Counsels candidates on the interview and hiring process.
  • Presents offers of employment, contingent on background check results, credentialing, and other pre-hire requirements.
  • Assists with collection of background check documents via in-person appointment twice weekly in HR.
  • Follows the candidate through the background check process, ensuring completion of appointments, providing support as needed for timely hiring.
  • Scan all pre-hire documents to the candidate’s electronic record. Complete pre-hire checklist to ensure compliance prior to hire.
  • Collaborate with other HR personnel to ensure hiring and training requirements are met for the HSPRS program, prior to hire and pre-service.
  • Communicates to the candidate and hiring manager when eligible to attend orientation.
  • Organizes and attends job fairs, campus events, and other networking opportunities.
  • Collects and analyzes data to maintain current understanding of fair and competitive market salaries, candidate availability, and demand for candidates in particular fields.
  • Maintains and ensures compliance with applicable equal employment opportunity (EEO) and related employment laws and regulations.
  • Tracks required immunization records to completion. Prepares and sends communications to employees to complete required immunizations such as annual TB screening, vaccination boosters, and annual flu shots.
  • Assist in continuous follow-up of all required/missing information discovered for all new and active staff personnel records, including assisting with the preparation and maintenance of all personnel records following Interdepartmental Regulations for DSS, DBHDS, ORR, VAISEF, and others, as well as YFT policy/procedure. This includes but is not limited to, maintenance throughout employment, background files, medical files, filing of all items in Efiles, Learning Management System updates, and HRIS electronic document files.
  • Perform customer service functions by answering employee inquiries and referrals to appropriate entities while representing YFT and Human Resources positively at all times.
  • Assist in process and procedure development and maintenance. Provide suggestions and recommendations to the HR Team for revisions and edits.
  • Assist with Program or Licensing Audits when requested and as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED TRAININGS:

ALL TRAININGS REQUIRED BY YFT, LICENSING AND GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES AS WELL AS JOB-RELATED TRAINING OR CERTIFICATIONS.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of High School Diploma
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field highly preferred.
  • Minimum of two years full-cycle recruiting and talent acquisition experience
  • Proven sourcing experience and techniques to attract passive candidates
  • Minimum of two years of human resources or related experience highly preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English - speak, read, and write, Required
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
  • SHRM's Talent Acquisition Specialty Credential a plus
  • VA Notary Public preferred
  • Ability to work on campus in Bristow, VA (HQ) a minimum of 2 days per week once trained.
