Job summary

Brightpoint invites you to join our team as a Community-Based Doula, delivering in-home and group-based support to young families in Champaign and surrounding counties. You will advocate for participants, provide emotional support, prenatal education, labor guidance, and postpartum care within a strength-based, family-centered model.

The role requires a Bachelor’s or Associate degree with Doula certification (or related experience), bilingual English/Spanish proficiency, a valid driver’s

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in social work or human service, OR Associate's Degree plus Doula certification, OR Associate's Degree plus two years' relevant social service experience.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Able to attend in-person family visits and meetings.
• Proficient in speaking, reading and writing in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Establishes trusting relationships with participants and families.
• Maintains regular contact to provide information, education and resources.
• Attends and supports labor and postpartum processes.
• Assists families in initiating and strengthening parent-child relationships.
• Improves family support systems via community resources and advocacy.
• Develops birth plans and collaborative goal setting with families.
• Assess family safety and care capacity and determine interventions.
• Facilitates pre and postnatal education and parent support groups.
• Maintains positive relationships with agency teams and community resources.
• Participates in community outreach and hospital engagement.
• On-call system participation including after-hours births.
• Bills Medicaid according to guidelines.
• Completes accurate documentation and timely Medicaid notes.
